Pacific Golden Plover
Sighted on: 23.December.2025

We had an excellent sighting of a rare winter visitor to Kabini—the Pacific Golden Plover. Pacific Golden Plovers are remarkable migrants, flying thousands of kilometres non-stop over the ocean between their Arctic breeding grounds and wintering areas. They forage by running, stopping, and pecking at the ground, feeding on insects, spiders, crustaceans, molluscs, berries, and seeds. Their dietary and habitat flexibility helps them thrive in both wild and human-modified landscapes.
In Kabini, this marks the third consecutive season in which we have recorded the species. This time, we were also able to obtain photographic evidence of the sighting.
