Small Pratincole

The highlight of the week was one of our winter visitors: the Small Pratincole. Small Pratincoles migrate within the Indian subcontinent, mostly moving from the northern regions to the south to breed during the cooler months. Kabini offers suitable conditions for both breeding and feeding. As the water levels recede, many small island-like formations emerge, and the growth of short grasses helps them conceal their eggs and chicks from predators.
