Blue-tailed Bee-eater
Sighted on: 02.February.2026

During our Birding by Boat experience, we were delighted to spot the stunning Blue-tailed Bee-eater skimming low over the waters of Kabini. A splash of turquoise against the forested banks, these elegant birds are a joy to watch as they perch briefly before launching into swift, acrobatic flights in pursuit of flying insects.
Seasonal visitors to the region, Blue-tailed Bee-eaters grace Kabini’s skies from October to February, adding colour and movement to the winter landscape. Their presence is a gentle reminder of the rich avian diversity the river supports during this time of year, making it especially rewarding for keen birdwatchers.
A true gem among Kabini’s winter avian visitors, this sighting perfectly captures the quiet magic of Birding by Boat.
