June 2023 - Week 5 Roundup

Black Panther

Sighted on: 27.June.2023

I have been visiting the Nagarahole tiger reserve for quite some time. Back in the day, when I was not working for Evolve Back, I would hop into a canter for a safari and prowl the forest of Nagarahole for a chance to have a darshan of the enigmatic big cats. The famous Black Panther was, of course, top on my wish list. Time and again, for six years, the search continued. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought I would get to see him. Having spent all these years searching, I had lost hope, and his sightings had become very infrequent. Finally, my wish came true the other day when on the last few minutes of our safari, with hopes alive getting, we were heading towards the exit through the black panther’s territory, and behold! there he was, beaten up, licking his wounds, but with all his guts and glory fully intact, behold the Black Panther. May his legacy live on.

Wild Dogs

Sighted on: 28.June.2023

Wild Dogs or Dholes are some of the fascinating predators found in Kabini. They compete with tigers and leopards with their own hunting and survival strategy. A pack of 8 Dholes were seen in my recent safari drive in Kabini. We came across these amazing predators after they had a successful hunt. were now pumped up with adrenaline; what a wonderful sight! And all were in awe.

Watching a Tiger in the wild is one of the most satisfying moments for anyone interested in wildlife and nature. They are so fascinating and charismatic. We were fortunate to spot one during our recent safari.
