As safaris into the park have been temporarily suspended due to some unfortunate incidents, our guests have been enjoying the chance to discover the wildlife that thrives in and around our lodge. During our Nature Walks, they encountered a wonderful variety of creatures:

.Peacock Pansy (Dry Morph) – Its striking white markings and dark pigments create the illusion of a watchful eye. These beautiful butterflies are commonly seen in large numbers around Kabini.

.Painted Stork – One of the largest and most elegant long-legged birds, the Painted Stork undertakes local migrations to Kabini and is often seen patiently waiting for the sun.

.Asian Openbill – A particularly fascinating species known for its distinctive beak. Like the storks, they make local migrations and are frequently spotted in large numbers along the banks.

.Little Cormorant – A formidable fish-eater often found resting on abandoned aquaculture structures. Fishermen consider it a nuisance, as it can consume between 1 and 1.5 kilograms of fish a day.

.Grey Heron – Often seen near our boat jetty, this elegant bird is especially visible now that winter has set in. With the colder weather, it seeks out sunlight to help evaporate the moisture from its feathers.
